Overton

Nov 2015 walk

Fine day for a walk, sun and blue sky overhead - just a 'bit' of mud underfoot here and there.

The Pub:-The Reindeer, Old Road, Overton, WF4 4RL; which serves a good pint and a range of meals, snacks and sandwiches. (No web site available)

Where it is: : From the M62 junc.25 or Brighouse take the A644 towards Dewsbury turn right onto the A62 at Cooper Bridge lights, then left at the next lights, ¼ mile on keep left and follow the B6118 for 4½ miles to the roundabout at Grange Moor then turn left towards Wakefield. After about 1½ miles turn right onto Grange Lane for ½ mile, turn left and the pub’s about 100 yards on the left.                Walk location map

If you find yourself passing the Mining Museum you’ve gone too far; take the little lane opposite the engine house, the pub’s just on the right when you get to the top.

Meet:- Pub car park 10:15am for 10:30 start.

The Walk: - A steady 4½ to 5 mile circular route on footpaths and country lanes, there are a couple of short climbs. Weather permitting there are some good views.
