2016 September

Wednesday 28th September

10.15 for 10.30

Thurstonland & Farnley Tyas,

A Holme Valley Circular

The Walk: A walk based on our last visit here in 2013 but without the hill climb we started with last time and, hopefully, without the mist which obscured the views over the Holme Valley.

About 4.5 miles along the eastern edge of the valley with just a few gentle undulations, no big hills.
Mainly on field paths with a short road stretch and a Farnley Estates permissive  woodland path. There are few stiles of varying design but all negotiable by 'experienced' walkers!

The Pub: The Rose and Crown, The Village, Thurstonland, Huddersfield, HD4 6XU.
Pub Web site - Includes a menu but the latest lunch menu is here.
Parking: Since the pub has a very small car park, please park just beyond the pub, on the roadside by the wells.
Travel: Walk Location Map. Avoid Wakefield Road out of Huddersfield town centre - gas pipe renewals causing delays. From Bradford travelling from M62 Brighouse junction via Colne Bridge to Waterloo and then following A629 Penistone Road to Thunder Bridge and Stocksmoor to Thurstonland is recommended.
